Anxiety and stress can seriously harm our health and wellbeing. At the moment, with the current COVID pandemic and associated financial and travel effects, an increasing number of people are looking for ways to better relax and manage their stress.  Many turn to medication and social drugs like alcohol for help but this approach has a number of unwanted side effects, such as addiction, depression and physical health problems.

Fortunately, there are several alternative and safe relaxation techniques available. Autogenic training (AT) is a passive auto-suggestion technique of self-induced relaxation. Progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) and guided imagery (GI) are also effective stress reduction methods to lower anxiety levels and improve sleep.

Health psychologist Dr Mallika Meinhold will host a seminar on these relaxation techniques which are easy to understand, learn and use.  The one hour workshop will start with an introductory explanation followed by a chance to try it out for yourself. There will be time at the end for questions. 

The workshop will be held once in English and once in German. Dr. Mallika will be joined by Dr. Eckhard Maskos, retired anaesthetist and member of the Be Well Advisory Committee, who will address the use of these techniques for pain management.

The workshops will be held in the Be Well Medical Center (the new multifunctional room on the 2nd floor) on Monday, November 23rd

The first session will be in German (4pm – 5pm) and the second in English (5.30pm – 6.30pm).

The participation fee is THB 200 for Be Well Members & Banyan Privilege Card Holders (THB 300 for other guests).
