Be Well is glad to announce a cooperation with health psychologist & psychotherapist Dr Mallika Meinhold.

Dr Mallika was born in Great Britain, grew up in Germany and has both the British and German nationality. She obtained her Doctor degree in Health Psychology in 2006 from the Ulm University in Germany. Dr Mallika was a research assistant at the University Clinic Ulm and a member of the interdisciplinary colloquium.  She was living for four years in southern Africa (Lesotho) and volunteered as a practical health psychologist at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Roma, Lesotho as well as at the National University of Lesotho. She mainly worked with cultural sensitive approaches, counselling students and clients suffering from HIV/Aids, psychosomatic ailments and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

She has been living in Thailand since 2008 together with her husband, Assoc. Prof. Roman Meinhold and their three children. Besides working in the practical field of health psychology, a/o at the Samitivej Hospital, Dr. Mallika was more than four years a Lecturer at the Graduate School of Psychology at the Assumption University In Bangkok. Since 2010 she is listed as a recommended practitioner at the German and Swiss Embassy, Bangkok.

Dr. Mallika is general practitioner health psychologist with a broad experience in psychotherapy/counselling (psychodynamic) and relaxation techniques.  Areas of focus are psychological, psychosomatic and chronic diseases (e.g. chronic pain), anxiety, depression, eating disorders, sleeping disorders, addiction, stress related ailments (e.g. hypertension/tension headache), PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), adjustment as well as multiracial relation issues.

Dr. Mallika also works with couples and families to resolve conflict and improve communication. Couples or marriage counseling focuses on helping couples gain an insight into their relationship with the focus is on learning to gain new perspectives about each other and in ways that couples relate. Couple counseling includes helping explore feelings and thoughts towards your partner.

The goals of family therapy (systemic therapy) are about improving communication skills, solving family problems, understanding and handling special family situations and creating a better functioning home environment.

Dr. Mallika is fluent in both German and English.
