Since our opening nearly five years ago, we have observed that Hua Hin is a popular location for expatriates, notably those who reside here for full, semi, or gradual retirement. Many of them have become Members and patients of our center.

As the Be Well team, we became curious to understand why foreign retirees choose Thailand and Hua Hin in particular. What motivates them to come? Are their expectations met? What are their concerns and plans for the future?

To explore these questions, we reached out to the Faculty Members of Assumption University in Bangkok. Their economic department expressed interest in researching this topic, recognizing its economic, social, and political relevance for Thailand.

Two senior academics from the university have developed the methodology and questionnaire for the survey and will be responsible for the data analysis. Additionally, Jonathan Fairfield, chief editor of Hua Hin Today, has shown interest in supporting the communication and publication of the findings.

How You Can Help

The success of this survey relies on finding enough respondents willing to complete the questionnaire. Completing it will take approximately 7 to 10 minutes.

The target group for the survey includes expatriates who:

• Are 55 years of age or older.
• Live in the Hua Hin region for a minimum of 6 months per year.
• Have been residents for at least 2 years.

There are two ways to fill in the form:

1. Online: Complete the questionnaire here.
2. Paper version: Available at both Be Well clinics.

Respondents can choose to submit the form anonymously. However, those wishing to receive the survey results individually are requested to provide their name and email address.

If you know friends in Hua Hin who are not Be Well members but meet the respondent criteria, please forward this invitation to them. Responses will remain strictly confidential and will be used solely for academic research. For more details, refer to the letter from Assumption University.

Important Dates

Forms can be submitted until January 10th, 2025. The survey results will be analyzed and published in the first quarter of 2025.
